Vancouver 2010 RV Lots Rentals
at Kits Spanish Banks and Jericho Beach
According to several news sources from June 2009,
the Park Board of Vancouver is considering renting out RV Lots
at Jericho Beach and Spanish Banks for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic
Winter Games at a reasonable cost. Located in the upscale Kitsilano
Vancouver community, there will be access to hundreds of Olympic
2010 RV Lots for rent by the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation
that voted in June to allow for the parking to be converted into
rentable RV Lots for larger recreational vehicles during the Winter
Olympic Games.
The scheduled rentals for the 2010 RV Lots in Kitsilano will
take place between February 10, 2009 to March 2, 2010. With an
expected shortage of RV parking in the Greater Vancouver area
expected to be a hinderence to many travelers and tourists, the
Parks Board of Vancouver have decided to allow for the parking
in Kitsilano to be converted at this time for $95 per night. A
site operator for the Vancouver 2010 RV lots in Kits should be
chosen in July 2009 after which people can make reservations through
the operator directly. A questionnaire has been sent out to local
residents around the Kits area to ask for their feedback. As it
stands, there will be one hundred and ten Vancouver 2010 RV lots
for rent in Jericho Beach Kitsilano in addition to two hundred
and fifty five RV Lots for rent at Spanish Banks during the Olympic
Games. Over a time frame of 20 days and $95/night per RV lot,
the 366 parking rentals will generate almost $700,000 for the
Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation if they are fully booked.
With Jericho Beach Kitsilano RV Parking Now
Approved, Attention Builds Towards North Shore Parking Lots that
are Eyed for Vancouver 2010 Olympic Parking Sites
Recently, the City of Vancouver Parks Board approved the use of
two large scale parking lots at Jericho Beach in Kitsilano to
be used for 2010 Olympic RV parking lots during the duration of
the Winter Olympic Games. Now, according to Metro Vancouver newspaper,
the North Shore communities are thinking of supplying some 2010
Vancouver parking for the games as well. Both the City of North
Vancouver as well as the District of North Vancouver on the North
Shore are agreeing to offer pakring for motor coaches as well
as buses that will transport Vancouver 2010 Olympic visitors up
to Cypress Mountain as well as Whistler. This is a sudden turn
of events, as discussions of converting parking lots into Olympic
2010 parking spots for buses and motor coaches has not been on
the radar until now, and only after the RV Parking lots were approved
in Kitsilano Vancouver. VANOC will be using the parking lots at
inter River Park as well as the Centennial Theatre for motor coahes
and 2010 tourist buses for transporting tourists and and around
the event sites. In return for these 2010 parking lot agreements,
the North Vancouver City and District will receive visit from
2010 mascots, advertising support, torch relay event, and media
support through VANOC’s Community Contributor Program.
Vancouver Parks Boards Planning for Olympic
RV Space for Lease
According to Vancouver Metro News’ Jeff, the organizers
of Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games are considering converting
parking in the prestigious Kitsilano waterfront area into RV lots
and space for recreational vehicles. With Jericho Park RV Parking
and Spanish Banks opening to RV lots during the Vancouver Olympic
2010 Winter Games, it will relieve some of the pressures on the
lack of affordable housing and hotel suites during the event.
In June 2009, the Vancouver Parks Board submitted a request for
proposals for a RV site operator for both Spanish Banks and Jericho
Beach RV parking in Kitsilano Vancouver and it is expected that
an operator will be chosen sometime next month. Although not much
community input has been asked, the Vancouver Parks Board believes
that these Kitsilano RV Parking lots are far enough from residential
areas that they will not disrupt the community in terms of volume
of people, noise and other issues. Right now, the Vancouver Parks
Board RV lots parking is still subject to a temporary development
permit from the city. One hundred per cent of the revenue generated
from the Vancouver 2010 RV parking lots will be given back to
the Vancouver Parks Board.
RVing to the 2010 Olympic Games Is Now Possible
According to Bob of Vancouver 24 Hours news, the Vancouver Parks
Board has earmarked both Spanish Banks and Jericho Beach as possible
sites for Kitsilano RV parking lots during the span of the Winter
2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver. With many tourists expecting
to visit Vancouver via road, car, bus and RVs, these recreational
vehicles will need a place to park during the Games, and to alleviate
the pressures on affordable hotel rooms and private homes, the
Vancouver Parks Board believes that it is a great option for many
people coming to the city to experience the Winter Games. With
a price tag of ninety five dollars per night to claim a Spanish
Banks or Jericho Beach RV parking lot in Kitsilano Vancouver 2010,
a full time reservations and site management company will need
to be hired in order for this to work. The deadline for site operators
of the Vancouver 2010 RV parking lots are due by the end of the
month on June 30, 2009. The break even point for the Vancouver
Olympic 2010 RV lot parking is about 35% occupancy and a 100%
occupancy at both the Spanish Banks (offering 265 RV lots) and
Jericho Beach (offering 110 RV parking spaces for recreational
vehicles) is certainly attainable. One of the contentious issues
is that there are no stipulations regarding the size of the recreational
vehicle parked at the Kitsilano RV lots nor the number of occupants.
During the times of eight in the morning to ten at night, a shuttle
bus service will run from the Vancouver 2010 RV parking lots to
the Canada Line SkyTrain. In addition, pets will be allowed. According
to the Vancouver Parks Board, the Spanish Banks and Jericho Beach
parking lots would have been taken up by recreational vehicles
and RVs regardless, and the proposal to manage this will make
it more orderly and controlled. During the Vancouver 2010 Games,
the Jericho Sailing Club will remain open, allowing RV parking
residents to use the food services, washrooms and showers during
that entire duration.
VANOC to use North Vancouver Capilano University
Parking Lots for 2010 Buses and Motorcoaches
Now official, Capilano University North Vancouver will be the
North Shore departure hub for buses and motor coaches throughout
the Winter 2010 Olympic Games. VANOC says that the university
parking grounds will house more than one thousand vehicles at
any one time during the Vancouver 2010 Olympics and will become
the departure hub for buses running to and from Olympic venues.
Although this means that there is a transportation hub for locals
to use when traveling to and from Winter Games events and venues,
VANOC is encouraging many residents to carpool and think twice
before taking their cars out during the Olympic Games. No unauthorized
vehicles of any sort will be allowed up at Cypress Mountain West
Vancouver, but Deer Ridge and Hollyburn cabin homeowners will
get special passes to get to and from their homes during the Games.
