BREAKING NEWS: The Carlyle Victoria Hill High-Rise Condos Pushed Back

Beau Jarvis, the VP of Development for Onni real estate developers in Greater Vancouver has confirmed that the luxury New Westminster Carlyle condo high-rise tower in the popular Victoria Hill neighbourhood will be pushed back and completion is expected to be for late 2010. Citing that the original 2 high-rise buildings in Victoria Hill were delayed by more than a year, ample buffer time was built in for the new Carlyle condos at Victoria Hill in New West's real estate market at the onset of pre-construction sales about two years ago. Reverse Mortgages Gets a New Player

Seniors Money Canada has announced that it is expanding its reversemortgage operations into Western Canada this month, in direct competition with veteran the Canadian Home Income Proram, which was founded in Vancouver. “The extended network will enable the company to serve the financial needs of more than 4.3 million Canadians, 60 years and older,” Nick DiRenzo, president and CEO of Seniors Money Canada, said. The group’s Senior Money Loan helps older to free some fothe equity in their homes. DiRenzo said that the average loan is about $75,000. There are more than 2,351,000 homes owned by those 60-plus, and over 60 per cent are mortagge free, he noted. The amount seniors can borrow depends on their age and the appraised value of their home. Seniors Money Canada will lend on a scale of up to 15 per cent of the home’s value for someone at age 60 and up to 45 per cent at age 90. The variable interest rate is 7.25 per cent.
